Project Robbie was built by
Positron Networks in collaboration witih the friendly folks (and dog lovers) at the
Mass Open Cloud Alliance. Our team deeply loves three things - puppies, GPUs, and scientific computing. Yes, that may be an odd combination of interests, but there is a bit of method to the madness. A small note about the name. A positron network was first mentioned by Isaac Asimov and then subsequently reused in various films and books, including Star Trek: The Next Generation. Yes, Lieutenant Commander Data had a Positron Network powering his artificilal intelligence. Our company was built on designing a service that provided unlimited access to the high performance computing capabilities required to create a "positron network" - it just happens to be called a large language model, but we like to think it is a step in the right direction.
The first robot created by Asimov that had a positron network was "Robbie." Robbie also just happens to be a cute name for a puppy. Voila - you have Robbie the scientific computing helper, that can find you the resources you need to get your research done, even on a small grant. Regardless, we happen to love puppies, and are happy to share a few pics of our favorite best friends.
We hope you not only get work done with our service, but enjoy using it. If you don't - please reach out to us at
